Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is a small country between Austria and Switzerland. If your Interrail Pass is valid in Austria, you're also covered for train travel in Liechtenstein!

An ÖBB train runs through the country, from Feldkirch (Austria) to Buchs (Switzerland). Liechtenstein has 4 train stations: Forst Hilti, Schaan-Vaduz, Nendeln and Schaanwald. You can reach the capital city Vaduz by bus from Schaan-Vaduz (not included in the Interrail Pass).

  • Micotra trains operate on the route Villach – Tarvisio (Italy)

  • RoeEE/Raaberbahn trains connect Vienna and Graz with the western part of Hungary and capital city Budapest.

  • WESTbahn trains connect Vienna with Salzburg.
    WESTbahn offers 1st class pass holders an upgrade to WESTbahn PLUS. For an extra €8.50 you can get and upgrade and travel on the WESTbahn PLUS car and get a second seat for free. You can get this upgrade on the train.
     

Your Interrail Pass is not valid on the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn, travelling between Krimml and Zell am See.

How can I make reservations for trains in Austria?
 

You can make reservations for domestic and international high-speed trains and night trains:
 

  • Online: through the Interrail Reservation Service.

  • At local train stations: at a ticket office or self-service machine.

  • By phone: contact the ÖBB call centre, which is open 24/7.

 

What can I expect when calling ÖBB?
 

  1. Call ÖBB on +43 5 1717

  2. You'll hear a menu in German.

  3. Choose extension "1" for bookings and train information.

  4. Austria's ÖBB booking center has English speaking staff.

  5. The booking center can deliver your reservations to any country you prefer, without charging you a booking fee. The delivery cost is €5.

  6. You can also pick up your reservations at large Austrian train stations. Just take your order number to a ticket office in the station.
